Fetish Australia once again joins the world-famous Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival Parade on Saturday 29th February, set to march alongside 188 other LGBTIQA+ supporting groups to share their kink pride at the iconic parade, now in it's 42nd year of operation.
Fetish Australia is an organisation that represents the nation-wide alternative lifestyle community at large and that is dedicated to promoting and increasing the visibility of fetish and kink inclusion.
This year, the theme for Fetish Australia's Festival float is 'KINK 4 LIFE' - a fitting theme for sharing and showing off their pride of freedom of expression, as a moment against censorship of the alternative lifestyle - under the Mardi Gras' own overarching 2020 theme of 'WHAT MATTERS'.
As part of their fundraising efforts for this year's float, Fetish Australia raised $1240 at the Mardi Gras Fair Day on February 16th at their stall - with a raffle sponsored by The HIDE, Eagle Leather, Army Of Men and Extra Dirty, amongst other kink-and-sex-positive Aussie individuals and organisations.
According to Fetish Australia their 2020 float "unashamedly celebrates BDSM (bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism) culture within the LGBTQI+ community in visual kinky leather, rubber, pup and fetish-wear."
Aboard the float and dressed in their best, dozens of representatives, titleholders and other kink advocates from communities all around Australia will be donning their patches, pins and sashes, vests, latex and leather to share their pride for all facets of the alternative lifestyle.
Hundreds of thousands of spectators will be treated to kinky visuals as the KINK 4 LIFE float joins the parade and heads down from Sydney's Hyde Park to Anzac Parade at Moore Park, where the festivities are set continue on all night long. The official Mardi Gras Parade is a free event open to all and will kick off with a welcome to country ceremony at Taylor Square at 6.45PM, a procession of the Dykes On Bikes and Boys On Bikes at 7PM and the official parade floats commencing their journey down Oxford and Flinders Streets at approximately 7.30PM. "Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) is one of the oldest continuously operating LGBTQI organisations in Australia. SGLMG was built on the foundations laid by early community activists who fought for LGBTQI rights in a time of wide-spread, institutionalised oppression and discrimination. From these origins, SGLMG has evolved to include a strong focus on celebration while maintaining a commitment to social justice for LGBTQI communities."
The world-famous party that is the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras attracts tens of thousands of visitors from all around the globe each year, with it's 2020 edition running from February 14th to March 1st.
